In order to operate correctly these services require the related ports to remain open. The following tables outline the default ports & protocols used by a variety of QNAP applications & services. ![]() Secured login and multi-factor authentication.Support Milestone Surveillance Platform.NAS Smart Surveillance System Solutions.NDR Solutions against Targeted Ransomware.Software-defined Platform Total Solution.Support Platform9’s Managed OpenStack Solution.Veeam-Ready and Virtualization Certifications.Management center for device and user permission.Disaster Recovery Solution Exclusive for ZFS NAS.With Linux and ZFS, QuTS hero supports advanced data reduction technologies for further driving down costs and increasing reliablility of SSD (all-flash) storage. QuTS hero is the operating system for high-end and enterprise QNAP NAS models. WIth Linux and ext4, QTS enables reliable storage for everyone with versatile value-added features and apps, such as snapshots, Plex media servers, and easy access of your personal cloud. This applies to your network setting, and it applies to using HBS3.QTS is the operating system for entry- and mid-level QNAP NAS. You should never be afraid to say "ok - I screwed this up - let me turn it all off, or even uninstall everything, and start all over again". Choose a shared folder from the Folder list and select Map the Network Drive. Fill in username and password and press okay. Point at the NAS you want to connect first then find Connect and click Storage Plug & Connect. How do I know this stuff ? Because I watched a lot of YouTube videos, read all the documents I could, and made a lot of mistakes, In about 2 days, I knew what every menu did in HBS3. Launch or Install Qfinder and find the NAS in the device list. The ONLY way you are going to learn is to make mistakes, and spend time with. If you say "I don't know what you are talking about" - this means that you are not spending the time to stare at the screens on your computer, and observe everything on the screen. Now when you go into HBS3 on the main unit, open up HBS3, create a remote sync job, enter the IP address and the password of the remote QNAP, and MAKE SURE that the port # in this menu is 8899 (the port # of the remote QNAP. You will see a port number listed in that menu. Go into the remote NAS, go to HBS3, go to Services, and select RTRR and ENABLE IT. Don't eat lunch today, and order that switch. Should i just go ahead and buy a 5G or 10G switch? I went to the URL provided in the Quick Installation Guide and downloaded Qfinder Pro on my Windows 10 laptop. To do this, you need to download and install Qfinder Pro on a Windows, Linux, or Mac. Shouldnt qfinder know? As of now im happy I got them to pair. Installation and Configuration Because the TS-431K does not have any video ports, it can only be set up and configured over the network. I just dont get why the two Qnaps dont notice each other even when plugged together. I went through it for a few tries a day for a couple days before i posted asking for help. I then input my passwords and it fails to connect and asks me to verify. It says failed to connect to RTRR server, do you want to enable RTRR server on remote nas. I probably touched a setting somewhere without realizing. Thats how it should have worked in my mind also. I do have HBS everything you wrote about setting the sync jobs makes sense. It probably just added a extra complication to my setup. The qnaps are static set through the router. Im moving soon so ill be setting everything up again in a couple months. Does that count as a switch? I thought I was the same. ![]() I am learning everything as I go so I appreciate everyones input. The 673 is using two of them and the 951 is using one of them. I have the two qnaps plugged into a netgear nightwawk AX8. Here is a 5 port Netgear 1G switch for $17. You will probably get 100 MB/sec if you are using a 1G connection on a 1G switch. It will show you the speed right on this panel in the QNAP web GUI in HBS3. It will allow you right there to confirm that it can see the backup QNAP, AND TEST THE SPEED. If your 951 is the backup, enter 192.168.2.4, and enter the password for the 951. If this is a straight backup - do a REMOTE sync, and a one way sync. On the Main QNAP, open up Hybrid Backup Sync, select Sync - create a new Sync Job. ![]() Make sure you go into the backup QNAP and enable RTRR in Hybrid Backup Sync (I assume you have downloaded ?Hybrid Backup Sync, on both QNAP's from the App Center. Now you can open up both QNAP's web GUI on your computer and see everything. Set static IP addresses for everything - so for example - set the 673 at 192.168.2.3, the 951 at 192.168.2.4 and your computer at 192.168.2.11 (for example). Plug in both QNAP's (those free ethernet ports) into the switch, and plug your computer into the switch. Get a small cheap 1G switch (unless you have 10G ports, which I doubt you do).
